Designed as a snap-fit model that requires no glue, the Mackarel features polycap joints throughout, allowing for smooth articulation and dynamic posing. Distinctive porthole details are recreated with clear parts, enhancing its submarine-inspired design.

The kit includes hydro jet parts used in amphibious assault operations, along with water-slide decals to accurately reproduce unit markings. The box art showcases a powerful illustration by renowned artist Hidetaka Tenjin.
